About Alin Hamade
Hello, Compton residents. My name is Alin Hamade.
I have been a business owner for more than 31 years in the area bordering Compton. I first became involved in Compton civic life in 2000, when the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department took over policing services for the city. From that point forward, I attended council meetings, followed local elections for mayor and city council, and became familiar with city staff and city managers over the years.
In 2001, I bought my first home in Westminster, where my family still lives today. I became active in public service there and served for six years on the Traffic Commission and the Financial Review Committee. I also served on the county board for alcohol and drugs. Those opportunities gave me firsthand experience serving the public and understanding how local government decisions affect everyday families.
My business background is one of the strongest foundations I bring to public service. Over the years, I built and managed multiple businesses that taught me how to reduce overspending, make disciplined financial decisions, and invest wisely. I worked extremely hard — often seven days a week and long hours — to build that success, and I understand the value of accountability, efficiency, and results.
In 2017, I moved to Compton. The daily commute back and forth to Westminster had become exhausting, with hours of traffic each way, higher fuel costs, and lost rest. Living in Compton during the workweek gave me back valuable time and brought me even closer to the community I had already been following for years.
Later, when council representation changed, I was not offered an opportunity to serve on a commission or committee in Compton. During that period, I moved my voter registration back to Westminster until the next four-year council seat would be up for reelection.
During those four years, I was invited to serve on the Westminster Planning Commission because of my experience in construction and business. I was ultimately appointed Chair of the Planning Commission. I resigned on January 21, 2026, and moved my voter registration back to Compton so I could step forward to serve the people of the 2nd District, where I live.
I am running for the City Council to set an example of what it means to truly serve the people. I will not accept pay from the city. I am not running for personal gain. I believe in honesty, kindness, respect, teamwork, and doing the work necessary to move Compton forward. I know I can make a real difference for this city.
